A hidden gem & absolute delight
“‘The Epicurean’ an absolute delight! Something my husband and I look forward to every time we are in our favourite place, Port Douglas.
We have experienced this beautiful hidden gem with friends as well as just the two of us, both inside and out on the stunning verandah where Marlene made a point of moving a fan for us, as it was quite a warm day. This made the experience even more comfortable, surrounded by the lush greenery below.
Rohan’s attention to detail, dropping fresh unique flavours on their boards, his culinary experience paired with Marlene’s knowledgeable wine choices, creates a spectacular taste explosion. This husband & wife team are nothing short of amazing, talented and downright gorgeous and as mentioned, go out of their way to make your experience so very personal.
This is genuinely a magnificent spot which we highly recommend.
Do make sure you book online to avoid massive disappointment. Our recent long lunch saw several ‘drop ins’ unsuccessful in getting a table.”

“Having been to Epicurean probably no less than 4 or 5 times previously, I made a lunch booking prior to a planned Port Douglas caravan stay over the Christmas period well in advance. What with a cyclone, a devastating rain event, massive road closures and then water supply issues, that booking was re-scheduled no less than 4 times, before finally getting a chance to revisit on February 24th This visit was with my new partner who had never had the opportunity to visit previously. Her assessment of her experience echoed all the things I had told her about both the venue, food, wine and hosts Marlene and Rohan. Our Mediterranean board and the pickled Octopus suggested to us were both divine. Another beautiful lunch experience thanks team, we will see you both again very soon.”

This is not just lunch in the tropics, it is truly an experience to be enjoyed by those who love informed, genuine service and exquisitely made and presented food. To add to the experience, there is a sense that you are dining with friends rather than at a restaurant.
